Madrid: immersive walk in La Herrería Forest

Trees are one of the most powerful living symbols of nature. They are there, they are part of our life, although we are not always aware of it. They do not speak, but they feel, love, suffer and see the inexorable passing of time and our daily follies unperturbed and firmly rooted to the earth. We propose a new way of looking at them and, why not, admiring them, together with the best way of planting and caring for the arboreal species of the Iberian Peninsula. Come with us to the Bosque de la Herrería.

Our route goes around the picturesque Pinar de Abantos and La Herrería area Herrería, a protected natural area of the Community of Madrid with an enormous and undoubted landscape value. We will walk into the Herrería Forest, where oaks, ash trees, chestnut trees, montpellier maples, etc. will accompany us on our journey.

When we arrive at the Silla de Felipe II – where we will be told about its true origin, we will continue our ethnobotanical path.

We continue our path to the Fuente Dos Hermanos and the Cueva del oso, a very peculiar rock formation.Among the species that we can find are: barberry, maple, hazelnut, chestnut, cherry, juniper, blackthorn, broom, ash, fern, rockrose, hawthorn, pyorn, gall oak, oak, wild rose, santolina, willow, linden and blackberry.

We will finish the route understanding the potential of trees to revitalize ecosystems. We will understand the spiritual meaning that the tree has for man, along with the different forms of twinning with him that we can remember or relive.
